Dental units
A dental unit is the dentist's workstation: the patient chair and the doctor's element with handpieces, the assistant's element with suction, the water unit with a cuspidor, the operating light plus a foot control. The whole appointment happens at it, so any awkward detail gets repeated dozens of times a day. This section of the Finer catalog has units for general dentistry, orthodontics or surgery. Standalone chairs and doctor's consoles are here too, along with suction units and dental X-ray.
Which dental units are in the Finer catalog?
Brands in the section include Tekmil and OMS, as well as Fomos and Xline Imaging, and the units mostly differ in how the instruments are delivered and in the control panel. With hoses coming from below there is the Diverso dental unit with 5 outlets, Diverso S with waterline disinfection, plus Diverso Touch with a 7″ touch panel. Over-patient delivery comes on Correcta with 5 outlets and on Correcta S with a disinfection system. Correcta Touch has a 7″ panel with two micromotors, and Correcta Plus has a programmable panel with a micromotor display.
For the rest of the room the section has FoVac suction units and the IMIX-M3 amalgamator. Intraoral X-ray is covered by XDC and XDI-150, panoramic imaging by XDI-200/250 and XDI-300/350, the latter with 3D CBCT. Moon and Arcadia EXT chairs are sold separately, as are the All-Around, Star or Kart doctor's consoles by OMS, so a workstation can also be put together from separate parts.
Which dental unit suits your specialty?
For general dentistry the choice is usually between the Diverso and Correcta lines, and they differ mainly in delivery and panel. An orthodontist can work at the Ortho unit by Tekmil with a panoramic film viewer, a surgeon at the Epica unit with a mobile doctor's element, and another ready configuration is Universal Top with the Moon chair. A wheelchair can roll onto the Correcta platform, so the patient does not have to be moved. A portable dental unit in a case for outreach work is a separate class of device. The closest thing in the catalog is the Diverso mobile dental cart with 5 outlets, and we can tell you what it needs to be hooked up.
What should you compare in dental unit components?
First, delivery. Over-patient units hang the handpieces on flexible arms above the patient. With delivery from below, the hoses come out of the element and rest in holders. Both work: it comes down to the dentist's habits and the room layout, so ask the people who will sit there. Second, the number of outlets. Count the handpieces and devices the dentist keeps connected every day, then leave room for a scaler or a curing light.
Biofilm builds up inside water tubing, so check for built-in waterline disinfection (the S models have it) and how it is run. The HVE and saliva ejector work off a suction unit, and its capacity has to match the number of chairs it serves. In the chair, compare the height range and programmable positions, along with upholstery that stands up to your disinfectants. The doctor's console can be mounted on the unit or stand on its own cart, and again the deciding factor is how the dentist likes to work.
Where to buy a dental unit?
Since 2015 Finer Ukraine LLC has supplied medical facilities and private clinics with equipment from leading global manufacturers, and the Finer team includes doctors and engineers. For a dental room we will pick the model to fit the specialty and the dentist's habits, draw up a quote with the tender file. After delivery our engineers install and commission the unit and show your staff how it works. The installing engineer needs a floor plan showing the water and drain outlets along with compressed air and power points, so send it along with your request. A new clinic can be equipped as a turnkey solution, and other equipment is under Medical Equipment. To choose a dental unit, call 0 800 334 585 or use the contact page.
FAQ
1. What is a dental unit and what is it for?
It is the set of equipment a dentist works at during an appointment. The unit keeps instruments within reach and feeds water and air to the handpieces. It also suctions fluid from the mouth and lights the working field, while the chair holds the patient in a comfortable position. Different models are made for general dentistry, orthodontics or surgery.
2. What does a dental unit consist of?
The patient chair, the doctor's console with handpieces, the assistant's element with HVE and saliva ejector, the water unit with a cuspidor, the operating light plus a foot control. The unit works together with an air compressor and a suction unit. The instrument set on the console is chosen for the room's specialty.
3. How much does a dental unit cost?
We give the figure in a quote, because the cost depends on delivery type and panel (buttons, LCD or touch), on the number of micromotors and on disinfection or the light, as well as stools for the dentist and assistant. Some models show a price on their page. To buy a dental unit without extras, tell us the specialty, how many dentists share the station and whether you already have a compressor and suction.
4. How much does a dental chair cost?
The Moon and Arcadia EXT chairs are sold separately from the unit, and the price depends on the configuration. A standalone chair makes sense when you already have a doctor's element or the console will stand on a cart, like the All-Around, Star or Kart by OMS. We quote the exact figure for your room.
5. What should be prepared in the room before installation?
Water supply and drainage, electrical power, compressed air from a compressor and a suction system. Outlet positions depend on the model, so agree the room plan with the engineer before delivery rather than after the renovation is finished.
