Laparoscopic towers and equipment
A laparoscopic tower is several devices working as one system. The camera with its control unit, the surgical monitor, the light source and the laparoscope make up the video chain; a CO2 insufflator, a suction/irrigation pump and the instruments complete it. This page brings those components together. WISAP of Germany makes the cameras and optics here, along with the insufflators and light sources. The 4K monitors are by Hisense, the bipolar clamps and forceps by Erbe. Each device has its own product page, and Finer helps you put together and price a set for the procedures your department performs.
What goes into a laparoscopic tower?
The surgeon operates while watching a screen, so the video chain is the core of the tower. The laparoscope sends the image to the camera head, and the control unit processes the signal and puts it on the monitor. Light travels through a light cable into the same laparoscope. The insufflator creates the working space by pumping in carbon dioxide and holding the set pressure. The pump rinses the field with saline and suctions off blood. If the hospital already has some of these units, you only buy what is missing.
Which camera and monitor should you choose?
The first decision is 4K or Full HD. EndoView 4K has three MOS sensors and outputs 3840 × 2160, but you only see the full picture on a 4K monitor such as the Hisense HME8C32 (32″) or HME8C55S (55″). Both show up to four windows from different sources and have backup power. For Full HD there is the three-sensor EndoView 3CMOS HD, the single-chip EndoView 1CMOS HD with a 105 g head, a separate EndoView camera head, and VIRON 1 with seven presets for different procedure types.
WISAP HD laparoscopes come in 5 or 10 mm, with a 0° or 30° view, and can be autoclaved. Angled optics let you look at a structure from the side by rotating the scope around its axis.
Which insufflator and light source to pair with it?
Heatflow and TETRAFLATOR warm the gas, since cold CO2 cools the abdominal cavity, and pressure is set between 3 and 30 mmHg. Heatflow delivers up to 50 l/min and evacuates smoke at the press of a foot pedal. TETRAFLATOR comes in three versions, the largest delivering up to 45 l/min. The L300 LED source gives a colour temperature of 6000 to 6500 K. The 7720 X3RH runs a 300 W xenon lamp, with a 150 W halogen lamp that takes over if the main one fails. Aqua-Purator suctions up to 2 l/min and alternates rinsing and suction through a single instrument.
How do you seal vessels during laparoscopy?
Erbe BiClamp LAP and BiClamp E LAP clamps seal vessels up to 7 mm by thermofusion, usually without a ligature. The generator monitors the tissue, and AUTO STOP cuts the current once the zone is sealed. Both are designed for the BiClamp mode of Erbe VIO generators; see the Electrosurgery section for these units. Reusable Erbe bipolar forceps are washed at 95 °C and autoclaved at 134 °C.
Where can you buy a laparoscopic tower?
Tell us which operations your department performs, what equipment is already in the theatre and whether you need 4K. Finer Ukraine LLC has been working since 2015, and its staff includes doctors and engineers. They will draw up a list of compatible devices and prepare a commercial offer with tender documents. After delivery, the tower is installed and commissioned on site, and your staff are trained to use it. The price of a laparoscopic tower depends on what goes into it, so we calculate it in the offer. Flexible video endoscopes and other equipment are in the Endoscopic equipment section, and you can discuss a set by phone on 0 800 334 585.
FAQ
1. Can I buy a laparoscopic tower as a complete set?
Yes. Each device has its own product page, and we build the set around your hospital's procedures, from the camera and monitor to optics and instruments. If you already own part of the equipment, the offer only covers what is missing. We agree the list with the department's surgeons.
2. What does the price of a laparoscopic tower depend on?
Mostly on the video chain: 4K or Full HD, three sensors or one, a 32″ or a 55″ monitor. After that come the insufflator, the type of light source and the number of laparoscopes and instruments. We give the exact figure in a commercial offer once the configuration is agreed.
3. What is an insufflator for in laparoscopy?
It pumps carbon dioxide into the abdominal cavity and holds the pressure, so the surgeon has room to see and work. If pressure suddenly rises, a safety valve releases the excess. Heatflow and TETRAFLATOR both have a bariatric mode, and Heatflow also evacuates surgical smoke.
4. Which gas is used in laparoscopy?
Carbon dioxide, CO2. WISAP insufflators take it from a cylinder or a central gas supply through a filter and warm it before delivery. Small patients get their own modes: paediatric on Heatflow and neonatal on TETRAFLATOR.
5. Will WISAP equipment work with Storz or Olympus optics?
Partly. Both outputs of the 7720 X3RH have an adapter that rotates to fit Olympus, Storz/WISAP, Wolf or ACMI light cables. EndoView Full HD cameras take optics via C-Mount, and their steel adapter also fits endoscopes from other makers. We check the specific laparoscope before we send the offer.
